Beaumaris Gaol

  • Steeple Lane Beaumaris, Wales, LL58 8EP United Kingdom (map)

A building of memories, anguish and sadness awaits us as we venture to Beaumaris Gaol. The dimly lit corridors and cells leave little to the imagination of what life as a prisoner was like in the 1800's.

A place of correction, fear and regret the world of those who served time within these walls, and is far apart from the modern day prison.

Dare you walk these halls and come face to face with the spirits of Beaumaris Gaol? Spirits that include the likes of Richard Rowlands who was executed for the murder of his father in law. Rowlands protested his innocence and according to local tradition he put a curse on the clock in the church clock tower opposite the scaffold. To this day the clock has never kept the right time.
